Building the system for targeting the right user segments
Audience targeting was buried in technical logic that only engineers could parse. I led the design of the Audience Builder, a visual system for creating and managing user segments without writing queries.
Overview
Marketers at Aampe's enterprise customers needed to define which users their AI agents should talk to. But segmentation lived inside a query builder that required SQL-like syntax to express anything beyond trivial conditions. Most marketers filed tickets with engineering instead of creating segments themselves.
I designed the Audience Builder: a visual interface for combining user attributes, behaviors, and event rules into reusable segments. Teams can preview audience sizes live, save and share definitions, and hand them directly to agents without a single line of query.
